Anionic Self?Assembling Supramolecular Enhancers of Antimicrobial Efficacy against Gram?Negative Bacteria

چکیده
As a result of the looming antimicrobial resistance crisis, there is an urgent need for novel treatments. This particularly true hard-to-treat Gram-negative bacteria, as many agents are unable to cross cell membrane gain access interior, and thus elicit therapeutic response. Herein, evidence provided use anionic supramolecular self-associating amphiphiles (SSAs) efficacy enhancers commonly used agents, which known resistance, against bacteria. The co-administration SSAs with antimicrobials shown sensitize traditionally hard treat Pseudomonas aeruginosa both rifampicin novobiocin, from structure activity relationships can be elucidated. Quantitative fluorescence microscopy performed, indicating permeabilization likely mode action drug enhancement by SSAs. These results offer alternative strategy in adjuvant design, expanding focus beyond cationic peptides into realm small molecules. Finally, self-assembly presence these investigated through combination quantitative NMR, tensiometry, dynamic light scattering, zeta potential studies, demonstrating impact on SSA self-association events.

Antibacterial efficacy of disinfectants against some gramnegative bacteria.
The antibacterial effect of 11 new commercially manufactured disinfectants on clinical isolates of Salmonella typhimurium DT104, Serratia marcescens and Pseudomonas aeruginosa was studied. The substances tested represented six pure quaternary ammonium substances (QAS) and five QAS combined with other ingredients. The antibacterial efficacy was characterized by influencing the growth of bacteria...

Abstract Background and Objective: Probiotics are living microorganisms that have beneficial effects on the health of digestive system. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial ability of acidic and neutral supernatants (culture supernatant) of lactic acid bacteria against common bacterial pathogens. Meth...
متن کاملLecithinase production by gramnegative bacteria.
Lecithinase production by microorganisms has been investigated in an attempt to use it in the classification of bacteria, and to associate formation with toxicity and virulence. The first record of this reaction was made when Nagler (1939) and Seifert (1939) observed, independently, the formation of an opalescence in human serum by the a toxin of Clostridium perfringens. It was soon found that ...
متن کاملThe in Vitro Antimicrobial Efficacy of PDT against Periodontopathogenic Bacteria
Periodontitis, an inflammatory disease, is caused by biofilms with a mixed microbial etiology and involves the progressive destruction of the tooth-supporting tissues. A rising number of studies investigate the clinical potential of photodynamic therapy (PDT) as an adjunct during active therapy. The aim of the present review was to evaluate the available literature for the in vitro antimicrobia...
متن کاملMotuporamine Derivatives as Antimicrobial Agents and Antibiotic Enhancers against Resistant Gram‐Negative Bacteria
Dihydromotuporamine C and its derivatives were evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial activities and antibiotic enhancement properties against Gram-negative bacteria and clinical isolates. The mechanism of action of one of these derivatives, MOTU-N44, was investigated against Enterobacter aerogenes by using fluorescent dyes to evaluate outer-membrane depolarization and permeabilization. Its...
